Since
1916, in order to escape the winter fog which
settles over the Lake Léman area, from
January until March, Le Rosey moves to its
Gstaad campus, in one of the most picturesque
villages in Europe. The school has
its own chalets providing the necessary facilities
for students and staff to live and work.
Lessons take
place as in Rolle, with just a few adjustments:
lessons in the morning only, including Saturdays
and all day Thursday. The afternoon is reserved
for snow sports and activities on ice!
This second winter
campus is one of Le Rosey’s special
characteristics. Apart from the benefits
that a sunny climate and mountain air bring
in terms of health, this means that Roseans
are able to enjoy an extremely varied school
year.
Facilities in Gstaad
Our Gstaad campus offers
students the possibility to use local facilities
including swimming pools, fitness centres,
tennis courts, ice-hockey rink, bowling alley,
curling, 250 km of ski slopes and 120 km of
cross-country tracks, 65km of snowshoeing
paths, climbing walls and Via Ferratas laid
out to help students learn to climb in a safe
environment.
The
girls have
their own campus situated a 10-minute train
journey away from Gstaad. Their 5 chalets
are comfortable and modern and have an extraordinary
view over the Alps. Although the girls attend
classes with the boys on the Gstaad campus,
all meals are taken at Schönried.
A
Gstaad study-bedroom
Students are housed in pleasant single,
double or triple rooms depending upon
their age. They may decorate their rooms
to their taste and use them as a study
area, or they may simply relax and listen
to music there.
