*Non-European Applications

To our great regret, changes to Swiss law have made it extremely difficult for international schools like Le Rosey to obtain work permits for non-EU citizens. For this reason, applicants without EU passports or Swiss work permits are advised that this greatly reduces their chances of being put on a short list.

Institut Le Rosey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment. All new employees are required to undertake a security clearance, which includes providing criminal records reports as well as a special excerpt from the Swiss criminal records for people working with children

Important considerations

Le Rosey is a bilingual English-French boarding school with its own special character . It is neither a British boarding school on the continent, an American prep school in Europe, nor a lycée français à l’étranger avec internat. While it draws on elements of all three, those influences have come together to form something uniquely Rosey.

Speculative applications

Le Rosey welcomes speculative applications throughout the year. These are reviewed by the relevant Head of Department and retained on file where appropriate.

Applications from outside the EU/EFTA

Swiss regulations make recruiting non-EU/EFTA citizens more complex. Candidates without an EU/EFTA passport or an existing Swiss work permit for non-teaching positions are sadly unlikely to receive a working permit.  Every application is considered on its merits, and where the profile and the role justify it, the school is prepared to take on the permit process.

Safeguarding and child protection

Le Rosey is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, in line with Swiss law and international best practice. Candidates must be willing to engage fully with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

Diversity and Inclusion

Le Rosey is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through valuing diversity. Staff, students, and teachers work toward the furthering of an inclusive and supportive environment. As such, we encourage and welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the seasonal move work?

Le Rosey operates across two fully residential campuses. The main campus is located in Rolle, between Geneva and Lausanne, and is easily accessible by train and car.

From January to March, the school community moves to its alpine campus in Gstaad*. The move happens during the Christmas and Spring holidays with blue trunks appearing a few days before around campus. The seasonal move forms an integral part of the school’s rhythm and educational model, with winter sports, including skiing, incorporated into the weekly programme.

*A handful of positions remain in Rolle, such as the gardening team.

What school facilities are available for staff?

Across the school year, students and staff benefit from a wide range of sports (swimming pools, tennis, paddle, gym, beach volleyball, etc.) and recreational facilities (sailing centre by the lake, bbq pits, etc). When not required for classes or school activities, these facilities are available for staff use according to a published schedule.

Is accommodation provided for intern (resident) staff?

For staff who live on campus, furnished accommodation may be provided. Housing allocation depends on family situation and availability.

For external staff members, during the winter term furnished housing in the Gstaad area is provided by Le Rosey.

What should I expect when moving to Switzerland?

Our HR and Payroll team will support you throughout your relocation process, including:

  • Assisting you with your work permit application.
  • Helping you register your residence in Rolle (if you will be living on campus).
  • Providing guidance on Switzerland’s mandatory health insurance system.
  • Explaining the mandatory deductions that will appear on your salary slip.
  • Providing information on local administrative taxes and fees, such as waste collection taxes, pet ownership taxes, and the mandatory radio and television license fee.
What is Le Rosey’s policy on pets?

We know that a pet is often an integral part of the family. That is why dogs and other pets are welcome on campus, as long as their presence contributes to the well-being and harmony of community life.

Each owner remains fully responsible for their animal and ensures that it respects other residents, staff, students and visitors on campus. Dogs are expected to be well trained, sociable and under control at all times, so that everyone can enjoy the shared spaces in peace.

What funding is available for Professional Development?

We encourage our staff to share their wishes for career development, continuing education or further training. Any concrete proposal that helps develop their skills, improve the quality of their work or contribute positively to the life and growth of our community will be given careful consideration. We believe that each person’s professional development contributes to Le Rosey’s collective success.

What if I don't speak French?

Tailored French and English classes are offered to all staff at Le Rosey and very popular. They lead to official certifications.
