Observatory Visit

On the 24th January, 16 of the students currently involved in the Rosey satellite project visited the Zimmerwald Observatory near Bern. There they were greeted by the observatory’s director, Professor Thomas Schildnecht. Prof. Schildnecht gave a lecture on the work done by the facility, with a particular focus on their use of a giant laser in measuring the position of satellites. Following this the group was given a tour of the facility and its many telescopes, including an impressive 1 metre custom-made reflector. An inspiring afternoon!
