10 Sep Reflecting on a visit to the UN
Visiting the UN Peace Talks was an inspiring experience, as I had the chance to hear a variety of contrasting perspectives from around the globe, each sharing words of encouragement and personal anecdotes about how peace is possible. What struck me most was the common message among many speakers: that peace is attainable through inclusion, dialogue, and listening as the fundamental basis for understanding. Even in a world divided by more than 110 armed conflicts, ordinary people can still strive for peace. I also liked when Miranda Shaw from Creators of Peace International turned the question back to us in the audience, asking who in our own lives we need to start listening to and create peace with, which reminded me that peacebuilding must begin at a personal level. The visit left me reflecting on my own role and how our generation can contribute to building a more peaceful future.
