Le Rosey cherche pour l’année scolaire 2024/2025 un/e stagiaire pour son Campus Juniors à Rolle – près de Genève – et en hiver dans la station de ski de Gstaad – dans les Alpes bernoises.

Le poste de stagiaire Juniors, interne (le stagiaire loge sur place), offre la possibilité de s’intégrer à cette communauté Juniors (élèves de 8 à 12 ans), en participant à l’encadrement de l’internat (temps partiel en fin de journée) notamment par des activités en relation avec la nature et les animaux (petite ferme sur place) ou à l’encadrement de l’internat et des classes, en assistant les enseignants dans leurs cours (temps complet).

Il s’adresse à un/une jeune adulte responsable et dynamique, bilingue français/anglais ou capable de s’exprimer dans ces deux langues, âgé/e d’au moins 20 ans, finissant des études universitaires dans le domaine de l’enseignement à des enfants et désirant acquérir une expérience professionnelle dans ce domaine.

• Temps complet (40 heures hebdomadaires) ou partiel (20 à 30 h).
• Durée limitée : 10 mois.
• Début du contrat : 1er Septembre 2023.
• La capacité à animer des activités extra-scolaires liées à la nature et aux animaux, notamment petits animaux de ferme, est essentielle.
• En cas de temps complet, la capacité à assister des enseignants du primaire dans leurs cours est indispensable.
• L’expérience de l’encadrement d’enfants en vie communautaire est souhaitable.

Le Rosey is recruiting a Sports Assistant Intern for the upcoming academic year (2024-2025) based on its two campuses in Rolle and Gstaad in Switzerland. The position start date is Wednesday 28 August.

The role of the Sports assistant intern will be to organise and lead afternoon sports activities, especially team sports, for students during the academic week and weekend events for students while fully immersed in the school’s boarding life.

A full-time English-speaking post is available in our vibrant Music Department for a Teacher of Music. The ability to offer private instrumental lessons (preferably on piano but other instruments will be considered) is vital, and ensemble leadership skills would be valuable in both classical and popular music styles. Music technology skills would also be useful.  A working knowledge of French would be an advantage although this is not a requirement.

Background Information

The Music Department at Le Rosey consists of over 25 peripatetic teachers and 3 classroom teachers. The staff are international, and most are bilingual. The instrumental and vocal teachers may prepare students for ABRSM Exams and are involved in the preparation of numerous different concerts and events throughout the year. Music is studied up to IB in the classroom. At present, over 370 private instrumental/vocal lessons happen on a weekly basis and there are many musical ensembles including an orchestra, several choirs, a jazz band, a rock school, chamber music groups, guitar groups, Orff groups and a string ensemble. All secondary school students who take a private instrumental or vocal lesson are now required to participate in a music group/ensemble.

The Music Department facilities in the purpose-built Paul & Henri Carnal Hall are exceptional and students have regular opportunities to perform in student concerts and musicals in the Rosey Concert Hall housed in the same building. The Rosey Concert Hall https://www.roseyconcerthall.ch/ is also a public venue, welcoming musicians and orchestras of the highest calibre to perform for our school community as well as members of the public. Recent performances have included The Berlin Philharmonic and Pink Martini.

Music facilities are shared with the students and teachers of the International Menuhin Music Academy. Regular open string masterclasses with internationally renowned string soloists and chamber music specialists are held in the Rosey Concert Hall.

All students at Le Rosey benefit from class music lessons until the GCSE years when Music becomes optional. The Junior school students learn music using Edwin Gordon and Carl Orff pedagogy and attend weekly choir rehearsals. Although Le Rosey no longer presents students for GCSE, we consider our GCSE-based course as a good preparation for IB. IB Music classes are small, allowing excellent collaboration between teacher and students.

A teacher at Le Rosey must be willing and able to teach groups of mixed linguistic backgrounds including native English speakers. There are approximately 60 different nationalities amongst the pupils at Le Rosey and many do not have English as their mother tongue. The successful candidates should be able to offer a flexibility of approach and a willingness to understand the problems of non-native speakers of English.

About the Role

The Technology Coach position is designed to provide high-quality, dynamic instruction and coaching to students across various levels, enhancing their technical skills through a blend of practical, investigative, and theoretical methodologies. The TC will exhibit profound knowledge in the subject area, sparking student interest and creativity in both hands-on and academic aspects of technology education.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, delivering, and evaluating technology-related activities, lessons, and projects during academic periods and activity blocks across all our Academic Sections (8 to 18 years old).
• Leading and coaching students in technology-related competitions (for ex. VEX Robotics or CAD) competitions.
• Holding office hours to assist students and teachers with technology projects and carry out tasks such as lab and equipment organisation, inventory management, preparation for technology projects, report writing, internal grading, and equipment packing during campus transitions.

The role will include some curriculum development, as well as design, delivery, and coordination of innovative cross-curricular projects throughout the year.

The ideal candidate will master Design Thinking, initiating students to the main principles of this framework, but also supporting them in developing analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity.

In light of our upcoming Science and Entrepreneurship Center, the TC must be actively involved in the preparation and organization of the school’s Makerspace and the promotion of a Maker’s mindset both for our staff and our students. They must also liaise with industry and academic professionals to assist with the development of a network that supports the school’s technology education goals.

Finally, the professional assuming this role must naturally stand out for their innovative mindset; they should be curious and forward-thinking, open to testing new ideas, embrace mistakes as learning opportunities, and be flexible and resilient in challenging times.

Qualifications 

• A minimum of 3 years of technology teaching/coaching experience.
• Confident with leading hands-on Tech Competitions and/or STEAM projects.
• Confident with CAD programs, such as Tinkercad and Fusion 360.
• Confident with a wide range of school technology equipment (3d printers, laser-cutters, CNC mills, Arduinos, VR and AR, simulations, educational robotics such as LEGO Mindstorms and VEX).
• Familiar with a few commonly used programming languages (ex. Python) and the O365 suite.
• Strong project management skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English. A working knowledge of French would be useful.
• The ability to identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be effectively delivered and assessed.
• The ability to design age-appropriate tasks which challenge and engage students.
• The ability to co-operate with and support staff members to ensure the sharing and effective use of Technology resources to the benefit of the school and its students.

Cahier des charges du responsable du “Start-up Hub @ Le Rosey & Entrepreneuriat”

Le/la responsable est chargé de toutes les relations extérieures liées au monde des Start-up ainsi que de la gestion des start-ups sur le campus une fois le Hub lancé ainsi que des projets entrepreneuriaux avec les Roséens. Le poste est placé sous la responsabilité du directeur général pour le hub et des directeurs académiques pour les projets roséens.

Liste non exhaustive des tâches envisagées

• Entretenir des liens avec les différents organismes romands de promotion de l’entrepreneuriat pour faire connaître notre futur hub et intégrer cet écosystème.
• Organiser des conférences liées à l’entrepreneuriat dès que le CSE (Centre des Sciences et de l’Entreprenariat, ouverture prévue en septembre 2025) sera en fonction et d’un programme de visites de start-ups dans la région.
• Impliquer Le Rosey dans un ou deux prix de start-ups type Mass Challenge pour lesquels le prix pourra à terme être un hébergement de la start-up dans le CSE.
• Favoriser le développement de projets entrepreneuriaux des Roséens (clubs), notamment grâce aux contacts dans l’écosystème.
• Créer régulièrement des projets transdisciplinaires avec une créativité inspirée du monde des start-ups et du design thinking.
• Discuter régulièrement avec des incubateurs actuels afin de mieux cerner les besoins et défis de notre futur hub.
• Au cours de la phase de lancement, la charge de travail est variable ; elle sera périodiquement réévaluée.

Description du poste
• Enseignement des mathématiques pour tous les niveaux avec une excellente connaissance et pratique de l’enseignement des classes du baccalauréat français : Spécialité mathématiques et mathématiques expertes.
• Cours individuels de soutien en mathématiques, à dispenser en français et en anglais.

Profil recherché
• Master de mathématiques.
• Quelques années d’expérience comme professeur niveaux collège et lycée.
• La possibilité d’enseigner la spécialité NSI au baccalauréat français et une expérience du Bac international sont des atouts importants.
• Une très bonne maîtrise de l’anglais est attendue pour les cours de soutien aux élèves qui suivent la matière en anglais.

Un logement peut éventuellement être fourni sur le campus et les conditions de travail sont intéressantes. Si le candidat retenu réside sur le campus, il sera amené à prendre une part active à la vie de l’internat.

For September 2024 we have a full-time post available for a secondary teacher of English, ideally up to and including the IB Diploma Programme at Higher and Standard level. The successful candidate will be a graduate in English Literature, a voracious reader, and an imaginative educator who is collaborative, experienced, adaptable and willing to teach authors ranging from Geoffrey Chaucer to Eleanor Davis.

Le Rosey is a boarding school and the post will probably be residential. On-campus accommodation is provided, and conditions of work are attractive. The successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in boarding life.

For September 2024, we have a full-time post available for a specialist Teacher of Computer Science and able to contribute to IT teaching and learning across the school (in English). The ability to teach Mathematics would be an advantage.

Computer Science has been offered as an IB subject at Le Rosey since 2017, and there is increased student interest in technology and technology activities as well as demand for Computer Science at the IB. An added incentive for potential candidates is an ambitious project for a state-of-the-art science and entrepreneurship centre.

We are seeking a candidate with:

· Confidence and ability to teach Java and Python programming languages to various ability and experience levels, in multiple IDEs.
· the ability and experience to teach IB Higher and/or Standard level Computer Science.
· the experience and interest necessary to continue developing a Computer Science programme on our pre-IB programme
in UK years 10 and 11 (US Grades 9 and 10).
· the energy, enthusiasm and creativity to inspire an international student body to develop IT skills both as part of an academic curriculum
and as an adjunct to it
· an interest in international education and the outlook required to teach children from over 70 nationalities

A small proportion of the successful candidate’s timetable may depend on his/her skills, qualifications, experience and interests. This could, for example, mean academic teaching in Maths.

Candidates should note that the post is residential.
On-campus and rent-free accommodation is provided and conditions of work are attractive. The successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in boarding life, and a willingness to contribute to the co-curricular programme and support the pastoral life of our school is essential.
