08 May PPE Production at Le Rosey
Inspired by recent articles of the fabrication of Personal Protective Equipement (PPE) using 3-D printing methods, one of our students in Class 3 took the initiative to suggest that Le Rosey joins the production line. Discussions were launched and the technology department together with the student, were able to design and assemble a prototype for a protective visor, which could be printed on campus using the 3-D printer in the design department. The school has managed to now produce 25 face shields, which will be distributed to medical staff and caregivers in Switzerland, and continue to look for ways to boost productivity and continue production. Also conscious of the waste production from single-use face masks, they are now turning their thoughts to the feasibility of printing reusable face masks for use on campus and in public.
Well done and thank you to all involved for their dedication to a brilliant initiative in the fight against Covid-19.
