The “Special Week”

The mid-May “Special Week” gives Rosey students a new academic lease of life halfway through the long third term. For a week, traditional subject-based teaching makes way for a series of projects, expeditions and inter-disciplinary activities.

Two examples:
– Class 3 focused on the creation of a mobile application, and the prize for the winning group would be to have its app developed.  What did the students come up with? Unlocking school doors with a telephone app rather than a badge (the winner); deciding which sun block to use depending on weather and skin type; creating an ad hoc football team anywhere on the planet you happen to be; or using augmented reality to learn how to draw.
– Class 5 made a number of short films under the guidance of professional; they had a clear storyline and they had to use a certain number of specific shots.
It was a week when our students showed great creativity and enthusiasm – strengths that will equip them well for the second half of a particularly busy sporting, academic and activity-rich term.
