| Life
at Le Rosey is guided by the Codes which are
in their turn based on the school’s
core values: respect for oneself and
others, academic effort, loyalty to the community,
classical standards of politeness, active
participation in school life. Sanctions are
clearly explained. Different sections Juniors,
Cadets, Jeunes Seniors and Seniors) each have
their own particular age-appropriate rules.
Uniform is not worn on a daily basis although
rules are set out in the dress code, specifying
clothes used for sporting activities for
example; and at important school events
a full and formal school uniform is obligatory.
Although the safety of all Roseans sometimes
depends on rules being strictly observed,
the ultimate objective of a disciplinary
system is to build the foundations for harmonious
co-existence. The rules set out in the Codes
are neither unduly harsh nor overly liberal
and provide the basis for general well-being,
as well as for understanding the nature
of individual autonomy within the bounds
set by a community.
